How to repair and maintain precision measuring tools

Proper use of precision measuring tools is one of the important conditions for ensuring product quality. In order to maintain the accuracy of the gage and the reliability of its work, in addition to the proper use of the gage in operation, the gage must be maintained and maintained.

1. When measuring parts on the machine tool, wait until the parts are completely stopped. Otherwise, the measuring surface of the measuring tool will wear out prematurely and lose precision, which will cause an accident.

2. Before the measurement, the measuring surface of the measuring tool and the measured surface of the part should be cleaned to avoid the measurement accuracy due to the presence of dirt. The use of precision measuring tools such as vernier calipers, centimeters and dial gauges to measure forging blanks, or surfaces with abrasives (such as silicon carbide, etc.) is wrong, which tends to cause the measuring surface to wear quickly and lose precision.

3. During the use of the gage, do not stack with tools and tools such as trowels, hoes, turning tools and drill bits to avoid bumps. Also, don't just put it on the machine to avoid damage to the gauge due to machine vibration. In particular, vernier calipers, etc., should be placed flat in a special box to avoid deformation of the ruler.

4. Measuring tools are measuring tools and must not be used as substitutes for other tools. For example, taking a vernier caliper line, taking a square ruler as a small hammer, taking a steel ruler as a screwdriver screw, and cleaning the chip with a steel ruler are all wrong. It is also wrong to use the gage as a toy, such as holding the percentile in the hand and waving or shaking it. It is easy to make the gage lose accuracy.

5. The temperature has a great influence on the measurement results. The precise measurement of the parts must be carried out with the parts and gauges measured at 20 °C. Generally, the measurement can be performed at room temperature, but the temperature of the workpiece must be consistent with the gauge. Otherwise, the measurement result is inaccurate due to the thermal expansion and contraction characteristics of the metal material. Temperature has a great influence on the accuracy of the gage. The gage should not be placed in the sun or on the bedside box. Because the temperature of the gage is increased, the correct size is not measured. Do not place the precision measuring instrument near the heat source (such as electric furnace, heat exchanger, etc.) to avoid the gauge being thermally deformed and losing accuracy.

6. Do not place the precision measuring instrument near the magnetic field, such as the magnetic table of the grinding machine, so as not to make the measuring instrument sensitive.

7. If the precision quantity has abnormal phenomenon, such as the surface of the measuring tool is uneven, there are burrs, rust spots and scales are not accurate, the body is bent and deformed, the activity is not flexible, etc., the user should not dismantle it by himself, and is not allowed to use it by himself. The rough method of repairing the hammer, the file, the sanding, etc., so as to avoid the increase of the gauge error. If the above situation is found, the user should take the initiative to send the metering station for inspection, and continue to use it after the accuracy of the inspection.

8. After use, the measuring tools should be cleaned in time. Except for stainless steel measuring tools or protective coatings, the metal surface should be coated with a layer of anti-rust oil, placed in a special box and kept in a dry place to avoid rust.
